Development

Strikey Sisters is an indie video game designed, developed and published by DYA Games, a team of two brothers - Alberto and Dani - located in Spain.

Alberto is the main art director and pixel artist, while Dani is in charge of programming, sound and project direction. The soundtrack, composed by Dominic Ninmark, is available for purchase here. Marie's voice by Elissa Park. Elene's voice by Victoria Wong. All male voices by the versatile Omri Rose. Eritha's voice by Olivia Steele. Valdia's voice by Kathy Pfautsch. Elysaid's voice by Heidi Tabing. Xasmine's voice by Michelle Marie.

Influenced by a hidden Super Nintendo game called Firestriker (and also 90's arcades and 16-bit console games), we had the idea of an action focused brick breaker game long ago, while we were still working on mobile games. In fact, our previous game - Bot Vice - was initially designed as a brick breaker action game, but the project evolved and ended up being a twist on the gallery shooting genre. If you look carefully, Bot Vice and Strikey Sisters share a similar visual aspect and game elements layout. Anyway, Strikey Sisters has been completely developed from the ground up, with amazing new characters, enemies, bosses, animations, color palettes and rich pixel art visuals.

For Strikey Sisters, our goal has always been to achieve a real twist on the brick breaker genre. We wanted to remove all elements that we thought made the game genre boring, and add elements that we know are fun for sure! That's why we removed the paddle (getting rid of random ball bounces) and added player characters that can strike the ball in any direction, giving the player total control on gameplay flow. We lowered the number of bricks per stage (you can even destroy them with one hit when using strong attacks), and placed more emphasis on enemies, bosses and power ups. In the end, what we got was a fair, enjoyable and fast paced brick breaker game that keeps the player vigilant during the entire playthrough!
